Cabinet Maths: Carcass Dimensions and an Inset Back

Cabinet Maths: Carcass Dimensions and an Inset Back

Original quantitative topic practice in English. All 24 questions are included in a shuffled order. Each question supplies its own data and model assumptions; use only those assumptions. Choose one answer. Practice target: 20/24, not an official examination pass mark. Keep full intermediate precision. These exercises cover the calculation scope in the title; they do not constitute a full Red Seal examination, trade qualification, site design or operating specification.

A cabinet has external width 1100, height 1050 and depth 460, all mm. Two full-height sides are 18 mm thick. Top and bottom fit between the sides and each has that thickness. An inset back of 6 mm thickness fills the internal opening and takes up depth. A shelf fits between the sides with 2 mm total width clearance and ends flush against the inset back. Ignore joints, grooves and edge banding. Calculate the unpartitioned internal volume in cubic metres. Keep intermediate values unrounded; round the final answer to 4 decimal places if needed.
