Instrument Arithmetic: Linear 4–20 mA Scaling

Instrument Arithmetic: Linear 4–20 mA Scaling

Original quantitative learning practice in English. All 24 questions are included. Four supplied cases exercise six related calculation targets; they form one topic, not four separate tests. Every question includes the complete initial data. Use the stated model and retain intermediate precision. Choose one answer. Learning target: 20/24, not an official pass mark. This bank covers the calculation topic in its title; it is not a complete professional examination, design approval or operating instruction.

A linear transmitter maps -30 to 110 engineering units onto 4 to 20 mA. An observed signal is 12 mA. A target reading is 40 engineering units. Use fraction=(mA−4)/16 and value=lower+fraction×(upper−lower). Extrapolation is mathematical only and does not determine fault status or safety action. Calculate the signal for the target value in mA. Keep intermediate values unrounded; round the final result to four decimal places if necessary.
